Integrating with MailUp: API, Web Services, FTP

MailUp is an open system: you can leverage a vast array of APIs (free of charge) to connect external databases, CRM systems, CMS, ecommerce applications, ERP systems, Web analytics applications, etc. with our robust multi-channel direct marketing system.

Integration Procedures

Each MailUp account is structured around one or more Lists, with each List being an independent environment with regard to subscribers, unsubscribes, custom user fields, message statistics, etc. You can communicate with MailUp in a variety of ways:

HTTP Get/Post API
The easiest way to subscribe or unsubscribe a user, with a simple HTTP call.

SOAP Web Services API
A series of procedures that you can use to perform more sophisticated tasks such as transferring large amounts of user data, sending a message, managing groups, querying statistics or message status, etc.

RubyGem
The new RubyGem provides quick access to the MailUp API for Ruby-based applications.

BATCH FTP Import and Export
Import a large quantity of data. Upload a CSV file to an FTP location and MailUp will process it daily (e.g. nightly). Similarly, you can ask for MailUp to export data to an FTP location (e.g. list of unsubscribers, message statistics, etc.).

Post Operations
You can configure MailUp so that - after a subscription or unsubscription operation has been completed - the system will invoke an external script to pass data to it.

Data Synchronization

Use the many integration methods available to you to keep user data synchronized between MailUp and your other applications/databases. Since you can export statistics at the user level (opens, clicks, bounces, location, etc.), you can enrich any external customer database with useful, relevant information.

Integrated Subscription Forms

Easily create custom subscription forms, including forms that support user subscription via social networking accounts. MailUp will send the subscription confirmation message (which is customizable) and handle all aspects of the subscription process, including the recording of information such as date, time, IP address, etc., which may be required by local consumer privacy regulations.

Transactional Message

You can also use the MailUp API to send Transaction Messages such as subscription confirmations, password reminders, important alerts, and other notifications. Compared to doing so with a traditional approach (mailing handled with local mail component and sent from your SMTP server or that of your Web host), the benefits are:
1. Higher deliverability: MailUp invests constantly in systems and relatioships with ISPs to ensure maximum deliverability to its customers
2. A highly reliable, scalable, and fast delivery service.

Automated Messages

You can use MailUp to send Automated Messages, triggered by the occurrance of a certain event or condition. Advanced functionality that is part of the Marketing+ package allows you execute effective, automated campaigns. For example, ecommerce merchants can integrate MailUp with their ecommerce system, store relevant information in the many custom fields available in the MailUp system, and send targeted messages (e.g. follow-up after last order, or when the customer has not ordered for N days, or when a shopping cart was abandonded, etc.). For more details, see the Marketing+ section.

Private Labeling

MailUp can be fully private labeled by companies that are particularly brand-focused, or Web agencies that wish to resell the service to their clients. From the URL of all customer-facing links used in the system (which can be customized using a C-NAME: e.g. news.yourCompany.com) to the system's administration interfaces, the MailUp name can be completely hidden. For more information, see the Private Labeling section.
