Customer Success Engineer (Ref. CSE03)

View details ›

About this position:
We are looking for a talented, digital marketing enthusiast that can help our customers get the most out of MailUp. The position is called Customer Success Engineer because it's a hybrid between a customer service and a software/web development position.

Indeed, this is not a typical customer support position. The ideal candidate not only loves assisting customers by answering their enquiries, but also by improving some of the tools they use every day.Specifically, our Customer Success Engineer has Web development expertise so that he/she can help improve our HTML email templates, optimize our subscription forms, and write new code samples for the MailUp API.

One of the goals of this position is to provide customer support to our large Italian customer base when the Italy-based staff is offline. Therefore, proficiency in Italian is a must for this position.

What you will do:
  • Interact with MailUp customers and do whatever you can to make them successful in their use of the system.
  • Handle pre- and post-sale customer support, mostly through our online ticket system: tickets may be either in Italian or in English. In some cases, you will help customers over the phone.
  • Write outstanding documentation: articles, FAQs, canned replies for the ticket system, etc.
  • Investigate potential problems by reproducing them first-hand, using MailUp, and reporting the findings to the MailUp development team.
  • Help perform quality assurance on new MailUp features, and report the findings to the MailUp development team.
  • Help improve the API and API documentation, including by writing new sample code.
  • Help create or improve HTML email templates.
  • Help create or improve HTML forms (e.g. newsletter sign-up form) and landing pages.

The profile we are looking for:
  • You have a real passion for problem solving, and you see each customer support request as a challenge. That's why you go the extra mile to get to the bottom of things and find a solution.
  • You're patient and understanding when customers get frustrated: you've been there too!
  • You love writing and are really good at it: you have written a blog, participated in online discussions (e.g. Quora), created documentation, etc.
  • You know how important it is to provide customers with simple and accurate "how to's", and will happily spend time creating that kind of document.
  • You know PHP and/or another popular Web programming language(s) well enough to write sample code for the MailUp API.
  • You have a working knowledge of HTML and CSS. If you know how that applies to email, that's even better.

Other notes:
  • Proficiency in Italian is a "must" for this position.
  • A knowledge of email marketing techniques and best practices is a plus.
  • Having started and/or worked for a startup is a plus: you like wearing all sorts of hats and helping around with various tasks.
  • If you are not eligible to work in the US, you can still apply and let us know. In that scenario, we will have to help you get a VISA.

Office location:
  • San Francisco, CA (USA)

How to apply:
Please send your resume and a cover letter to job@mailup.it. Please detail your recent, hands-on email deliverability experience in your cover letter.
